Bird Flu - Travelling Precautions

The Bird Flu H5N1 virus has spread to many countries around the world but the World Health Organisation is not recommending the introduction of travel restrictions to affected countries at present.

However, if you are visiting any of the affected countries you are advised –

  • Not to visit bird or poultry farms.
  • Not to visit live bird or animal markets.
  • Not to eat raw or under-cooked poultry.
  • Observe high standards of personal hygiene.
